This week, I designed and finished the light filter for media tech. I finished the sketch of the design and took it to media tech on Friday to see if there were any changes Mr. Hester wanted me to make. I had two designs for him to choose from; one of them was just a solid cutout of the Mustang M. The other one I made I tried to add more detail to by creating an outline of sorts within the M. I didn't know how well it would work but I mostly wanted to test it out to see if it would work.

I attempted to make this design in Inkscape, but it did not work the way I wanted it to. Initially, I was going to use a stencil letter M in the same font and center that letter within the outline of the stencil. However, the font that I selected did not work with this method. So instead of trying to deal with Inkscape, I went back to Fusion and used lines to just draw an M into the design. This worked much better because it allowed me to control the width and height of the different parts so I could design it to my liking. The one with the stencil-like M was far more challenging to make because the lines had weird angles inside the larger M. I was able to make it well enough in Fusion for a test cut to see if this idea would even work.

I cut out both models of the filter and discovered the one with the stenciled M would not work because the cutouts were just too thin for them to stay secure or unbroken. In the end, I just used the filter with the solid M. After cutting it out, I gave it to media tech. I had to recut it for media tech because they accidentally broke it when they were using it.

After finishing this, I shifted my attention back to the word clock because we need to create a better physical component for the block of the word clock to sit in. Along with this, we needed to create a frame that we could actually hang onto a wall and a way to mount the power supply onto the back of the word clock. Bella and I started working on the design for it, and with some help from Mr. L, we were able to make a design of what the frame and box for the clock should look like and the basic dimensions of the clock. We plan on creating this design in Fusion and routing the final design when it's done.
