This week, I started a new project for the end of the year. I wanted to have an easy project that I could complete in my last two weeks, so I decided to make a jewelry hanger.
I started with making a sketch of the way I wanted the hanger to look. I wanted there to be a backing plate that I could mount to my wall at home. On this back plate, there would be another smaller plate coming out from the middle that I can attach hooks to underneath to hang up necklaces and bracelets. At the top corners of the plate, there will be two pegs that I can run a string through to hang earrings off of. And the middle plate itself will be a place to set down other things that don't hang up, like glasses and other things.

After making the sketch, I started with designing the pegs and the hooks for the hanger. The design for the hook was pretty simple since I had already made one for my sister's medal hanger a few weeks back. For the pegs, I just created a cylinder and cut a hole out of it, which would hopefully allow me to run a string through it for my earrings.

I put the hook and peg designs into my bigger CAD model of the hanger with the backing plate, middle board, and the holes for the hooks. The design for this is pretty simple. I mostly expect the actual assembly of the hanger to take longer because of how many pieces of wood I have to cut out and glue to each other to finish it off. I hope to print out the pegs and the hooks on Friday and, if the laser cutter is available, cut out all the wood I need to start the assembly.
