This week I started working on a new project for my little sister. She asked me to make her a bedside table because she recently got a new bed and wanted one that fit better in the new space she has. Since it is a relatively small space, the table is considerably small. I decided to make a pretty simple design for the table with just a small shelf underneath for her to have a bit more storage in her room. The initial design I made I planned on using the laser cutter for but then I realized I didn't have the correct material to make the legs for the table that I designed originally. I talked to Mr. L abut this and he suggested that I use the router to cut out the table and change the design of the table overall to make it more suitable to the router. I began redesigning this table based off one that I had seen in the CNC handbook Mr. L gave me to look through. I found this design and replicated it to fit the dimensions of the space that I needed the table to fill.

I began designing this new table in CAD but I ended up doing it incorrectly as Mr. L later explained to me. I needed to design it specifically with the parameters dictated by the router. I didn't know this at first and I spent some time designing this table without knowing that. For the router, the design needs to be catered specifically to the way that the machine cuts and since the router has a rounded bit, the tabs and connections on the table are different than what I initially expected them to be. Because of this, I have to continue to redesign the CAD model that I had started to suit the router and the way it cuts.

To continue my redesign of this table, I have to use Mr. L's very useful guide to have the table actually work on the router. I will focus on finishing this design on Friday and into early next week. I hope to get this table cut out soon, possibly by the middle of next week so I can assemble it and paint or stain it depending on what I decide later on.
