This week I worked on a few different things. I began working and designing the photo box that I am making for my dad so he can take professional-looking pictures of the dishes he serves at the restaurant. After talking to Mr. Christy and doing some research on the best box to accomplish the task that I want, I ended up changing my design for the box. The box, initially, was supposed to work similar to a light box and it would have lights that lined all of the sides of the box and turn on with a basic switch that I would install. But after discussing the design, I found that a different design would be better for this project.

This design would include a regular box with one side open for the camera to take the picture and three sides with cutouts so I can glue in a paper to diffuse the light within the box. Instead of integrating the lights with the box, the picture would be lit up by lamps that we have to create a more pleasing image. I finished designing this new box in CAD and on my initial cut in cardboard, I found that it was too big to be used for the box. I decided to change the measurements of the box to 17 inches x 17 inches x 17 inches. This is still quite a large box but it will still allow for the picture to have enough space around it while also being feasible to make.

In the time that it took me to research the box and finalize the design, I decided to do a test cut of the table that I was making in cardboard to see if I liked the way it looked. The table was quite small but for the area that it had to occupy, the size was perfect. The model in cardboard is pictured below. I plan on cutting out the table in wood after I complete the box because I need the photo box to be finished before the table.
