Last week, my friend from the electrical shop, Aileen, asked me to remake the Breaking Boundaries sign for her in metal. Previously, it was made out of acrylic and she was tasked to remake the sign with the help of a few different shops. Last week I was able to design the sign right when I got it. With Mr. L's help, I cut out one of the two pieces for the sign on Friday. That day, our time in shop was cut short by the community event we had, so I had to wait until Monday to cut out the second piece on the water jet. I was able to cut out the second piece on Monday and Aileen picked it up right as it finished during 6th period. The 2 pieces of the sign were then welded together in Metal Fab, painted, then hung up outside the Health Assisting shop.

This week I was able to redesign the spinning mechanism for the stars on my poster. Mr. L and I discussed a design in which the bottom star would have a ledge of sorts at its center where the top star could snap into a button similar to the one I had made last week that had two sides which snapped into each other. The ledge at the center of the bottom star would allow the top star to spin freely without risk of it falling out because of the bottom attachment it locks into. I completely redesigned the stars on the poster with this new concept and was able to finish the design on Wednesday.

On Thursday, I decided to cut out the poster board and wooden blocks with the laser cutter. The files for this cut were already prepared from the first time I cut out the board a few weeks ago. I laid out all the pieces on the board for now and taped them in place temporarily. I plan on gluing them down once I decide how I want to paint the other details onto it. I also began 3D printing the pieces for the star that I had finished designing. I hope to attach all the pieces for the stars together when the cut is done and then paint them before attaching them to the board.
