This week, I focused on a few smaller projects. On Monday, I made something for my kitchen. My mom had asked me to make two labels for our garbage and recycling bins at home because they are identical. For this, I decided to make the nameplates out of acrylic. Initially, I thought of water-jetting the piece, but I figured it would be too much of a hassle for a simple project. I made the design in CAD, then exported it to Inkscape, where I added the letters. I engraved then cut out the pieces on the laser cutter and took them home the same day.

On Wednesday, I printed out the stars for my poster project on the 3D printer because I accidentally broke the top star when I printed them out on Friday. So this time, I only had to reprint the top star and the button insert connecting the two stars. After this, I sanded and spray painted the two stars with black spray paint. Once it dried, I did a second coat, then a flat finishing coat.

On Wednesday, I also started to work on the map project for Mr. Christy with Kim and Bella. We finally got the maps for the windows we measured in the main office. We had to make signs for Worcester, Medford, the Quabbin Reservoir, and Massachusetts. We first had to find Worcester on the path because it wasn't marked on the map when we got it. After we found it, we began to make the signs; Bella made the Massachusetts one, Kim made the one for the reservoir and Medford, and I made the one for Worcester. We tried to make the signs personalized to their respective places to make them meaningful and nice to look at. On Thursday, Kim brought in markers so we could color them in. All that is left now is to attach them to the map and then hang them up.
